I love Cora Rose's characters so, SO much! They are all so vivid and fun and unique and strong in their own ways. I can't wait to read more and more and more of her books. What a talent!

I read it in one day. One of the most entertaining spicey books I read. Ever. Especially enjoyed the neurodivergent representation.

Cuteness overload. Expected it to be darker but it was still good.

This series just gets better and better…

“Emery” by Cora Rose is the third installment in the Unexpected series. The thing I love about Cora’s writing is that it is funny as all get-out. I laugh so much when reading her work. The experience is wrapped in happiness and comfort, even when she’s talking about difficult topics.

Emery has been through a lot. It’s amazing how big his heart is after what he’s been through. He keeps everyone at a distance, except for August, his stepbrother. The cool thing about this trope, though, is that the two men meet in their 20s.

Emery is such a lovable character! He is giving Sem a run for his money. But it’s okay, no need to choose a favorite. I can love them ALL!

August is over cautious and overthinks just about everything. He’s very concerned about disappointing anyone in his life, especially his mother. That’s the main reason he wants to keep the relationship between Emery and himself a secret.

I like how Cora split the book up into 2 parts. I also love that both Emery’s dad and August’s mom are totally on board with their relationship, after everything is finally out in the open.

Emery and August have combustible chemistry. Their interactions are pure fire. It’s SO good when they get together. Also, it’s wonderful seeing cameos from other characters in the series. One of my favorite scenes takes place during a triple date with Emery/August & Sem/Magnus & Luke/Elliot. The laser tag scene is pure joy. I loved it!

I’m also counting down until we get Luke’s book, which is next up in the series. I have a feeling Cora’s gonna hit it out of the park with that one!

One thing of note, pay attention to the author’s warning during the preface. There are references to past sexual abuse in this novel.
