I find myself in the odd situation of adoring this series but also feeling like I've forgotten 90% of what's come before. It's definitely a series that will benefit from re-reads I think. Meanwhile the art continues to be fantastic, the characters continue to be complex and compelling, and the end of the world continues to be imminent.

The apocalyptic story continues. The armies and the horsemen gather for the final war. This volume would score 5 stars if it didn’t have so many flashbacks that broke the story flow.

For anyone who's deciding to read this or not, I'll make my pitch, even though this is volume 9. How did you end up here?

This is like Saga but more violent, better art, and more interesting. Maybe you'll "like" it more or less, that's a taste issue, but nobody can argue that Saga is more interesting. Sure, they got a guy with a TV for a head, but c'mon, other than that, he's...just a guy?

How would clothing for a race that has TVs for heads evolve to look the same as human clothing? There's no fucking way you could get a sweater on over your head if your head was a TV. Or if you have horns.

The shirts in Saga are totally fucked, and I'm not having it.

Some crazy confrontations and some back-story getting filled in as all of the pieces on the board set themselves up for the grand finale.
