Above average and chaste Victorian romance. I like Matthews' writing style, though I don't think plot/characters are her strong suit. This one features a familiar trope, but with a bit of a twist I hadn't seen before, so that was refreshing.

Trope: rake reforms self for a disarmingly innocent beauty.

The Viscount and the Vicar's Daughter by Mimi Matthews is a thrilling romance about giving a second chance and giving trust to those who deserve it.

This novel was a sweet and intense between two opposites, a playboy and a vicar’s daughter. However, despite their differences through a mutual understanding and kindness their differences don’t really seem that big. Their relationship brought closer with a scandal we go along their love story as they try their best to get rid of society’s views on them and create a new identity together.

I simply love a good historical romance, and this novel is another one that is beautifully written. I felt the tension and passion between the two main characters and everything was thoroughly written. However, in my opinion I felt that this book was too fast paced and a bit unbelievable as most of the story happened in a day, so the deepness of their feelings was a little bit hard to believe, though the rest of the story was extended over a couple month period. I wish that we could have seen more buildup with characters and also learned more about them to believe that they both could be a match. Regardless of that I ate this novel up in a day!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes the opposites attract troupe.

Probably more three and a half, but I did enjoy it, so decided to err on a higher side. It was cute, and I definitely wanted to know what happened, although there were a couple threads that I felt were probably unnecessary, since nothing ever happened with them except for creating a little bit of drama which, granted, drove the relationship a little bit. But I loved the idea of a viscount falling in love with a vicar's daughter, and then proving himself by working on his estate. It brought out the romantic in me.

A good fun read, which manages to take the "love at first sight" trope and actually make it credible and readable. A little bit borderline steamy in a couple of places, and a language warning for the more sensitive but I really enjoyed it.

Mimi Matthews is one of my favourite General Market Regency authors.

I always always love Mimi Matthew’s books so this had me scratching my head. It was too instalove. St. Ashton was supposedly a horrible rake, but I was hoping that meeting Valentine would help him change. I mean, he did, but it was so fast that all of his interactions with her seemed disingenuous, which just wasn’t romantic at all. Their attraction didn’t come off as real and their relationship progressed way too quickly. It felt entirely physical and like St. Ashton was just using Valentine because his father threatened him. I just didn’t end up liking any of the characters very much even though there was redemption in for them in the end. It felt like it was too late. Maybe if the book was longer and we could have seen St. Ashton’s transformation it would have helped. I’m giving it 3 stars because Mimi Matthews is an excellent writer, but this one was too rushed.

Another fun read from Mimi. I enjoyed this read, it's an interesting story with a bit of a mystery and the reveal of the mystery was one of my favorite parts. Good read.
