I quickly fell in love with this story and all of its characters. The world building was absolutely riveting and was hard to put down. It was just shy of a 5 star rating as I felt that sometimes the author seemed to get caught up in writing down every single detail that they forgot they still have a scene to finish. Occasionally I felt myself thinking “man this single scene is being dragged out.” Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

*Spoilers

My problem with this book, and I had the same issue with the first, is that I kinda found it boring until the last two chapters which hooked me enough to want to read the next one.

I gotta be honest, at this point I don't really care about Ivy and Kethan's relationship. I am WAY more interested in the plot and taking down the queen. I will say however, I really want to read Rekosh and Ahmya's book. I did find them really cute throughout the story.

I would also like to put it out there that I am kinda mad at Ahnset. Yeah, she did what she thought was right, but how many times was she warned that the queen would not like it if she saw Ella and that is would be better for Ella to slowly die there then go to Takarhal. And yet she disagreed and brought Ella there anyway. And what happened next, oh yeah, Ella was basically beheaded. Like girl, I know you're not that naive.

This book is not as thrilling as the first but it still is a solid story. I love the addition of the new character although the douche-canoe really should've gotten his head bashed in, okay?

Also that ending... like come on sis you're suppose to be the bigger smarter sibling how are you that blind?

Still love the series, will continue.

It took me so long to finish this book simply because I didn't want it to end. No commences the wait for part 3. And o my a wait that will be. Especially with the ending of this book.
When I first started this serie I didn't know what to expect. I never read a "monster-fucker" book before. Now its too late to go back LOL. And I don't want to go back either. This book (and this serie) is honestly some of the best sci-fi I ever read. The world building is SO good. There is character development, politely intrigue, and romance in a way not many authors are brave enough to write about. Oh yeah and i've never hated a villain quite this much. When the humans were introduced I was afraid I wasn't going to like it. I thought it would be akward to read about. I was wrong. The comradery was amazing to read about. It was also very realistic. Not everyone I just gonna blink and be okay with someone having a relatioship with a huge spider, or err I mean vrix.
Anyway I really hope that there will be more books focusing on the other characters. Hmmm let me rephrase that. I NEED more of the characters. In only a few spaced moments this book has made me emotionally invested in every single character.
As someone with SevErE arachnophobia I would tap that

The ending was rough. I hope we actually see the Queen get her comeuppance. My heart went out to Ahnset. She was trying to do the right thing. Her trust was misguided. I’m looking forward to the pairings of the other humans and Vrix. I can’t wait for our couple to be reunited after that cliffhanger
