Its safe to say i mostly read Dark Romances when they come from Katee Robert's mind. Because this is what I like to read:
-Romantic relationships that only succeed when they have good communication and that don't shy away from what they want and what they need.
-Relationships where everyone gets to be an individual and make their own choices, and also is valued for their uniqueness.
-Revenge plots that should make no sense but are awesome nevertheless and are completely believable in the context.
-And so much hate to love, and hate while love, without developing into something toxic or abusive.
So, you know, this book.

After eight years of exile, the seven Paine brothers are back in Sabine Valley for revenge. Abel, the older brother, fights in this ritual-combat-traditional-thing and wins Brides for he and each one of his brothers. They are temporary brides and they can't be forced beyond the handfasting, so it's cool and it ensures peace between factions, at least for the year.
So, Abel ends up with Eli, his former best friend who betrayed him, and Harlow, Eli's wife, as Brides. Because of revenge.
Theres a lot of tension, a lot of conversations, and a lot of "I'm going to kill you but first I'm going to fuck you".
I was so stressed while reading this book! I knew there was going to be a happy ending, but for the most part I couldn't see how! Until I could, and it was awesome.
