'No plot just vibes' is so often said about books but this one really lacks any significant plot.
It's musings about life, friendship, literature, writing and humankind and life in general.
I generally avoid books about the pandemic, it just don't want to be reminded. I didn't read the blurb and wasn't aware that it is an important theme in the book. But I have to say, it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

Another beautiful Sigrid Nunez novel! This one follows a woman in the early part of the covid pandemic who is pet-sitting a friend’s macaw. In true Nunez fashion the relationship between the narrator and the pet in her life is really quite delightful. I love the stream of consciousness tangents that we are taken down as a reader - they dive into everything from life and writing to YouTube videos about animals. There are moments of deep wisdom and moments of hilarity and all of them are written beautifully. Nunez writes with a gorgeous style and a great big forgiving heart.

This book was scattered, but in a whimsical way. It was tough to get used to, but by the end I found it kind of endearing. I’m not sure what I gathered from it but I enjoyed it!
