This is a very short work of (what feels like) auto fiction. There’s not much of a plot, just the meandering thoughts of the elderly narrator, set during the pandemic. I liked it. The narrator’s voice was distinctive and relatable and I liked the sensation I got while reading, like I was tagging along with her as she talked with her friends and pet-sat a bird and sort of befriended a troubled college student that she comes to live with during the quarantine. It was a fairly relaxing read, despite the early COVID setting. I’d recommend for a quick, interesting, and peaceful palate cleanser, especially if you like autofiction/writer’s memoirs.
