Wasn’t expecting this to relate to the first novella. Another good short story

The Drop is one of several short stories that Mick Herron has released between Slough House books. They are perfectly packaged tales involving both main and minor characters from the main series, and often a little back story on a Slow Horse. This is no exception.
When an old spook sees an envelope being passed in a cafe, he knows something is afoot. A casual mention to John Batchelor, retired spy babysitter sets off a chain of events that sees the career of a young analyst turned upside down.
Beautifully told, I listened to the audio which is narrate led by the brilliant Sean Barrett.
