Lazy, bland and contrived. The characters are there only to illustrate points and give informative speeches.

The flow of this book was off for me. It felt a little like the “12 days of Christmas” song to me where each chapter you have to revisit what you just read in order to put all the pieces together. It left me with an unsatisfied feeling.

Spark of Light

What I Loved:
-The varied stories (10 viewpoints)
-The timely and important moral questions/lessons raised with this story
-The obvious research behind the storyline

Who Should Read It:
-With respect to the current abortion debate in our country, everyone.

I’m such a fan of the way Jodi writes. I love her chapters at the end of each of her books and how much research she puts into each book. Highly recommend this book!

Unsurprisingly, Picoult has provided a refreshing narrative to a heavy political controversy. While reading, I often found myself sharing thought-provoking quotes to strike deeper conversations with colleagues and friends.
