This book has helped me understand my own experience of matrescence - the concept in itself is quite ground-breaking. Lucy Jones' writing is gorgeous too - I underlined many, many quotes in this.

One of the few flaws I found with this book is the way in which it downplays breastfeeding. I understand the author's opinion, as she had a difficult time breastfeeding and was indeed misinformed. However, she picks and chooses from the research to drive home the point how the importance of breastfeeding has been overblown, omitting mention of studies that have proven its huge benefits.
There were a few other minor things like the constant talk about sleep deprivation, when later we find out that the baby sleeps in her own room (bed sharing is practiced in most cultures around the world and can be safe, as well as very beneficial to the mother's and baby's sleep).

But the main points and most of the chapters were things that I approved of. I don't necessarily relate to everything, living in Denmark - appalled to hear that trains in the UK don't allow prams!

Anyway, great resource that all new parents should read.
