Interesting concepts. Nice to have non-humanoid POV characters. Meanders through character development while plot goes on in the background until the last chapter when everything happens at once. The antagonists barely appear on the page.

I give this one 3.5 stars. It was a sloooooow starter for me as I couldn't lose myself in the story at first, and I never quite reached the "I can't put it down" stage that I get to with a really enjoyable book, but it was ultimately an engaging (if slightly predictable) story.

Refreshingly different and yet familiar compared to a lot of fantasy series. It's fun to follow characters that wouldn't normally be the main ones in most books.

Really good! Every last one of these characters has my heart! Definitely encountered a learning curve but every chapter was easier to understand and only increased my love of the book!
