Oh I just loved this book. The metaphor of putting up with a haunted home as putting up with an abusive husband is just so perfectly done. I guessed the twists early so not five stars, but this book was so good it almost didn’t matter. Highly, highly recommend.

I’m not sure I liked this book very much. It was certainly addictive. I had a hard time not listening to it. But the ending really threw me. I did listen to the book as an audio book so perhaps I missed things I would have caught while reading, but the twist felt forced to me. It was incredibly unsatisfying. I enjoyed most of the book, so I don’t want to give it a bad rating because most of it was great. Just the ending didn’t work for me. It’s also well written and I laughed so much during this horror book. Definitely check the triggers before reading.

this was a fun read! I loved the POV character, and even when I wished she'd make different choices it was refreshing to feel like they all made sense for her. the ending felt like a kind of jarring tonal shift but it was also gratifying and enjoyable

Human characters were rather annoying but the story still absorbed me, so that was a nice change.

Definitely made you go “wait, what?” Because there are little breadcrumbs along the way that don’t add up until the ending.

Overall, a good fall palette cleanse from other big series type books.
