"It's the strangest feeling to be proud simply because I'm taking care of me and mine. Is this what it's like to grow up?"

No Spoiler Summary:
The Unhoneymooners is a romance novel about Olive Torres: Unlucky in love, unemployed, and recently left to pay full rent in an apartment since their roommate moved out. Did I mention also single? This all comes to a head when her perfect, very lucky twin sister Ami gets married. The unlucky part? The entire wedding comes down with food poisoning, sparing only Olive & Ethan, the Groom's brother, and also Olive's nemesis.

It turns out the honeymoon is non-refundable, and Olive and Ethan are sent on the next plane pretending to be their newlywed siblings, and what can go wrong? Sure they hate each other, but it's a free vacation in an absolutely beautiful setting, and no new bosses or ex girlfriends will be able to ruin this trip.

...But what happens when you realize you don't hate the person you're pretending to be married to?

Review:
I'm a sucker for a really silly enemies to lovers rom com and this gave me EVERYTHING. Stakes just high enough to keep you invested, 100% knowing where most of the plot was going, warm and sandy beaches and unlimited alchohol? This book had so much that I'm invested in, and I really loved reading it with Katie over the span of a few days for our buddy read. <3

The plot and the characters were really great, and even left quite a few surprises to be had. I was pleasantly shocked to find out that some things I had guessed were way off, and the last third of the novel or so had a really nice tension running through it that you don't always find in a romance.

I loved Olive's spunk, and mixed with Ethan's tenderness made a really nice combination. I'm not sure if there is a sequel or spinoff in the works for this, but I'd realllllly love to see Ami's love story. I just don't feel done with these characters yet.

"I want to say something sassy, but the only thing that comes to mind is how insulting it is that eyelashes like his were wasted on Satan's errand boy."

Some of my favorite tropes: fake dating, one bed, enemies to lovers. I was on board with the main characters Olive, Ethan, and Ami right away, and the audiobook performance was really well done. I hadn't realized/remembered before starting the book that Olive and Ami were twins, which makes my second book this month that includes the twin relationship. Funny coincidence!

This book is so cute. It is definitely a type of book that goes from enemies to lovers but is a little more complicated than that. I lovedd this book and I lovee Ethan so much and am absolutely obsessedd with his character.

Really didn't like it. This was my first dive into "rom com" books and I don't think they're for me. Right off the bat, the reason for them being enemies is so stupid and from there it didn't get better. I also didn't think he treated Olive very nicely.

Now looking back, after reading romances like Emily Henry, Christina Lauren’s “Unhoneymooners” did not compete at all. I thought it was cute being one of the first adult romances I read, but now comparing it to my new favorites, it just did not hold up. The writing was pretty juvenile/cheesy, the plot points were extremely predictable, and I don’t think I would’ve wanted/expected the characters to actually stay together after the book. The plot idea was fine, but the execution would’ve been ten times better.
