This was a perfect light, quick read for me! Fun regency era romance with strong Kate + Anthony from Bridgerton vibes but make it PG instead of R. It was well-written and had lots of good historical details. It’s a simple, familiar structure with a more contemporary perspective of a heroine fully owning up to needing a wealthy husband to support her family. Amazing debut novel, hope there is more to come!

Thanks to Penguin Group Viking Publishers and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

3.5/5 - Great writing and plot. Romance was not that well developed.

I loved the writing since it made for such seem less transitions and very pretty descriptions. The plot was also very fun too since it’s about a girl who finds unexpected love on her quest to marry a rich man. However, I didn’t find this romance well developed. It was like, one moment they were friends/friend emits and the next moment, they were professing their love for each other. I just didn’t think that there was enough development of their love for each other and this may have to do with how the book was so short. No matter, their bickering was cute and the ending did make me smile. But I wanted more.

Not sure if I would read this again but I’ll definitely keep my copy in case I so desire.

The narrator of this book was so wonderful!
The romance wasn't really great, this is like a romance where in people look at ankles and fall in love.
The story is a good one but just wasn't convinced about the romance between the hero and heroine. There were some instances of chivalry etc. But there is no "falling" in love part. They just are friends and then all of a sudden they are declaring their love to each other.

The ending is pretty lame as well with the heroine focused on reuniting with her family, no wedding shown, no babies, and the loose ends with the sisters romance open.

Therefore 3 stars, for a good read and story and characters but not a SATISFYING one.

I wanted to read this after seeing it on social media and went in with little expectation. I really enjoyed the fresh take on the genre and thought it was fun to see where the book went with the premise. I do think some of the plot points did not come across as clear and I had to reorient myself while reading, but I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow. Some of the romantic tension could have been more, but I had a fun time reading this. Thank you Netgalley!

A very fun read. You actually feel like the main character is in desperate financial situation and is fighting for her life to figure it out. The romance between her and the love interest comes about in a way that feels natural - even if they are both blind to is ;D

Thoroughly enjoyed this romp through regency England from a perspective of a lower born woman and her sisters. Their father having been cast out when he married their mother, Kitty now finds herself needing to get herself involved with polite society in the hopes of ensnaring a rich husband.
The plotting was fantastic and the characters played well off each other. I thoroughly believed in their relationship by the end.
I would very much enjoy seeing Kitty in future books as she was a fantastic heroine who showed a great deal of social intelligence.
