An honest, touching read filled with Yalom's existential wisdom. I had goosebumps at a few points in the book, ironically, particularly during the ending.

This one took me a bit to get through.

I wish I had read some of his other work, or had been more familiar with him as a psychiatrist before having a go. It reads as a book summary of his life's work, without giving too much detail or specificity into psychiatry or any particular topic. It's an honest, lengthy memoir that fell a bit flat for me.

A light and wondrous read of Yalom’s life, heavily condensed, but what a life!

It felt like it started to lose its way for me towards the end a bit, but it is also clear that writing this was a cathartic process for Yalom and it feels almost as though he wrote for himself over an designated readership.

A healthy reminder of what one can fit into a life when we follow our hearts and passions (he and his wife are definitely couple goals!). I’d love to read a similar memoir by his wife as it sounds as though her own journey was pretty spectacular in itself.

They say you should never meet your heroes. Apparently I shouldn't have read this book because it left me feeling disconnected from the author, who has been one of my inspirations for years. Yalom highlights how a lot of his therapy stories are embellished or just fiction. I felt let down by that. Listening to an account of Yalom's holidays around the world started to get tiring after a while. Dude clearly had a very cushy and comfortable life.
