It was good? But then in 1 sentence, the heroine decides she wants to bear Eon's child? After being vehemently against it? That AI manipulated her so brutally and succinctly that she developed Stockholm Syndrome in a matter of hours. Impressive, but not exactly my cup of tea. Not that quickly, anyway.

I loved Eon's darkness and the heroine's spunk, but it was too contrived and quick for me to really enjoy it.

I loved the concept of an AI being an alien and being a "hero" (he was more of a straight up villain, really) in an alien romance, tho. Gave me Illuminae vibes for sure if that YA series was written for adults.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

Ugggghhhh. This could’ve been so much better if it were longer. I mean, the whole story happened in what, like 3 hours max? Sorry but 3 hours ain’t gonna get me to succumb to a stoic AI being, even if he is chiseled and beautiful. Maybe that’s my problem, maybe it’s because I can’t really relate to the speediness of the story. I think that Eon was super meh and not very likable. He wasn’t charming in the slightest , though obviously it had to do with him being AI, but still. Maybe it’s cuz I didn’t like how rigid he was. I think if he slowly gained humanity over a longer story with more development, there could’ve been something there.

Also, the idea of cyborg tentacles kinda freaks me out, ngl. Tentacles are supposed to be soft and squishy and slimy but when you put cyborg as a prefix to that, then I just imagine some cold, hard, metal plated tubes, and that doesn’t sound fun at all. At least to me.

Even the spicy scenes were mid and too fast. Yeah there were some nice sexy lines but nothing that’s going to stick in my head for a while.

Honestly I grew no attachment to either character, which, once more, could’ve been solved by making the story longer.

The romance bits were meh and the spicy bits were meh. I think it would’ve been better if it was all romance or all spice, not some cheap mix of both.

And yeah the baby thing, no thank you. Not into that. I skipped the epilogue cuz it gave me the heebie jeebies. I don’t need an epilogue of a birth, sorry. Speaking of that, can you imagine your AI bf making you have a baby just so it can take over the infant’s consciousness? Like, you’re kinda giving birth to your boyfriend? I mean, was anyone else way weirded out by this?

I had high hopes for this as a Sci-Fi nerd and a tentacle lover, but neither checked any of my boxes. It would’ve been a million times better if it were longer. That is the root of the problem with this story.

AI meets human FMC and wants to be a real…man. I’m getting strong Pinocchio vibes typing that.

Plenty of tw in this one so proceed with caution!

Look. If you're considering this book, I already know what you like, and you'll like this one. I loved that he printed himself a body for her and the awkward exchanges that happen when an emotional human falls for a computer.

I loved this one and it's one of the first Bequin books I read. I was looking for more intense steaminess and a different kind of monster romance and got both! Typically, I abandon cyborg/AI romance because I don't think sufficient or believable backstory has been created to make me believe AI would "interact" so uhhh intimately with living creatures. But this book did well in developing not just the plot but the steamy scenes. The HEA on this is hard won, and it's very descriptive detailing of fight scenes, naughty scenes, and internal monologues are what made me a Lizzy Bequin fan in the first place!

everything happened too quickly for my liking (insta-lust, insta-love) but I liked the story and how unique it is. Definitely wouldn’t mind me an Eon

I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this book. It was campy but somehow still remarkably sensual. The AI had a lot of personality actually. I wish the book had been a little longer.

Never thought I'd enjoy this particular trope but I would 100% read it again and I plan to try again  from the author.
