At this point in the series I'm just comparing the books to each other, because you wouldn't be here if you don't love our unfriendly space-hood Murderbot. In that regard, this was a decent step above the previous entry in the series.

No deus ex machina here, just Murderbot trying to control their temper/frustration as we are introduced to yet another friendly AI machine on another planet. This time however, Murderbot has to deal with not just saving dumb humans (again), but their dumb robot, Miki, as well. Miki is a lovable naive little robot assistant, annoyingly cheerful and positive, which makes her a brilliant foil to our Murderbot's constant annoyance. We also get some minor plot progression against the overarching conspiracy across this series and some cute touching moments at the end.

This series continues to be an entertaining read in-between my other novels and I dread the day it comes to an end.

This one is probably my second favourite so far - and a good part of that is because of Miki and the sorts of ways that little pet bot made dear MB feel.

We learnt a fair bit about GrayCris and their doings, and I look forward to MB revealing everything he knows to Dr Mensah.

5 out of 5 stars 😍

very fun! loved the narration and insight of murderbot in this one. its thought process and emotions were just very refreshing and cool to see. i also loved the premise and setting of this one. the new humans and bots were a lot of fun.

Oh Mickey.
Murderbot has grown so much and even though it had to return to the SecUnit identity, and no longer pose as a human, it’s getting more understanding of its own other human condition. We’ve returned to more likeable secondary characters (even though I immediately called the main antagonists), humans and bots were insanely likeable. And I really can’t wait for Mensah and co to return (🤞for the next one?)

Difficult time keeping interest in an already short novella. Ending was well done and sets up the fourth nicely.
