MY RATING <3: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.9
at first, i bought this book simply for the cover. its purple and cute. at the checkout of the book store the lady told me that some of her friends had read the book and it was good, but also crazy, but good. and i couldnt agree more :D
i have never ever in my life read a book that was this shocking. at multiple points in the book i had to put it down to process what was happening because holy guacamole. this compilation of short stories is scary, in the sense that the stories are so innovative, surreal, and perhaps traumatic that you dont really forget them even after you finish reading this book. additionally, all of the stories have a moral message, usually about topics such as greed/its consequences, pressures of women in modern society, family, revenge and more. i found it really interesting trying to figure out the messages at the end of each story. i have to admit i do have a bit of personal bias as the author of this book has some studies in European languages (or something of the sort) which meant there was quite a few times in the book where there would be dialogue in languages such as Polish and Romanian which made me really happy being a Romanian reader because its not often you come across your own language in an English (well translated to english) book. the translator of the book did such a great job and it was quite well-written. it was the perfect balance of sophisticated-words-ive-never-heard and simple to understand language.
only reason i did not rate it higher was because the last 2-3 stories did not impact/shock me as much as the first few ones did and i found myself getting a bit bored at points but i do strongly recommend.

this book disappointed me. i had only heard good things about it, but i ended up getting so bored all of the time, and kept not wanting to read it.

Overall weaker than Your Utopia. There's a lot of body horror elements and grotesquerie. Probably my favorite overall story is Reunion, about a couple meeting up in Poland.
Kinda just lame...and try hard...and bad...and boring...and poorly written...and shallow.
The cover is pretty though.
