I did enjoy this book, I loved the mini quests leading up to the big one it did make it feel like there was more going on. I love the characters of Lira and Elian but the connection and romance of their characters felt a bit forced in places I didn’t fully believe in how their connection developed but it was an enjoyable fantasy adventure read

A dark and twisted Little Mermaid... but with sirens?! Umm, YES, YES, YES. We're talking enemies-to-lovers, siren-killing princes & collections of human hearts. Alright, the final battle scene didn't quite do it for me (what is it with the overly dense fighting descriptions?) but I'll let it go on the basis that this is Christo's debut. 4.75/5 utterly bingeable YA fantasy content.

Positives: quick, easy-to-read, and had some great suspenseful scenes; fantasy retelling was both comfortingly familiar yet unique. 

Negatives: pacing felt very off, it was quick to start, then very slow in the middle, and the ending went by way too quickly. I also didn’t see too much chemistry with the main characters, and the minor characters felt sloppily written.
