Awesome read!

One of the best representations of the mermaids mythological journey I've ever read. Truly an awesome retelling of their mythos and who the far are.

WARNING: Slight spoilers

First off, I feel like the book was a bit too slow. Maybe I'm use to reading faster pace books and that's why I feel this way. But I feel like the good stuff didn't happen till 3/4s of the way through the book. Then you're just at the end. I understand the concepts and everything and I love where Knorr took the book in many different aspects, how they tied the lore of sirens/mermaids, and how mermaids became like the guardians of the sea. I also like the environment friendly stuff, like how Targa ends up cleaning up after the humans with all their junk.

I didn't really care for the journal entry part, but I feel like it was also a good edition, I personally just didn't care for it. The only real reason why I might buy the sequels is because they sound like they'll be different from the first one. Personally though, I'm just interested in Akiko's story because there's so much mystery behind it.

Overall the book was good.

Picture yourself as a girl who's mother is a mermaid who hates living on land but survives by having the career as a world renowned salvage diver. Sadly you aren't a mermaid like your mother which puts somewhat of a rift between you two. A wealthy owner of a shipping company invites your mother and you to Poland to salvage and explore a ship from what may be tied to both your histories. Once you take swim in the brackish water....you change....and suddenly you and your mother are even more alike. What adventures await you next?

I adored this story of mermaids and magic. The history involved intrigued and excited me greatly. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

I enjoyed the story and the writing was decent but the characters fell flat. I didn't connect with any of them. The most feeling of them was the mother inlaw writing the diary.

I was so excited about this book at first!
I had been looking for a mermaid/siren book and this one was kind of it for some parts. The premise of the book is really interesting. The way the author created the myth and incorporated it into the story was really good. My issue with the book is that I read 60-70% of the book and nothing had happened. It felt like the book was filled with day to day descriptions because the author did not know where she wanted to take the story.
It took me three months to read 60% of the book and in all honesty I have no desire to finish reading it

This was kinda meh, I didn't care much for our main character nor the main romance.
