Olivie Blake's writing is really beautiful, but her plot development still leaves something missing. I love the way she writes conversations and she does drop some bangers of quotes. That being said, I've now read 5 of her books and I don't think I could explain the plot of any of them. Cool characters and all of the concepts sound so interesting but they all fall flat for me.

I think she could write the hell out of a romance or literary Fiction novel where the emphasis is on the characters and their inner turmoil, emotions, and connections to others. Fantasy maybe just isn't the best genre to showcase her talent.

Yeah the romances were cute and sad and all that, but Roman's pathetic insecurities and decisions carried this book for me.
