A wonderful sequel to the first in the series, this book has a much more manageable cast of characters allowing the focus to remain on Juliet and Jonathan. A perfect cozy mystery for Austen lovers.

I don't typically enjoy reading murder-mysteries, but I love Jane Austen so much and think Gray does such a good job capturing her style that I can't help but love this series. This is another incredibly fun romp through the extended Austen universe, with a much more plausible reason for so many characters from different books to be in the same story. Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney are so fun, can't wait for them to finally hold hands in 30 books. The characterizations of the canon characters felt much more in line with the actual books (Marianne in particular just felt so much more on in this book), though poor Sophia Gray does not deserve the slander she gets before she is killed. Overall, very fun and I am very much looking forward to the next installment.

This ended up being a completely enjoyable continuation of the Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney mystery series. The two leads continue to be endearing and loveable and the series only gets better with the more time you spend with the characters. It's really the characters that keep you wanting to turn the page and engage with the story.

While the mystery doesn't end up being as climactic as one would hope/expect, it still left me questioning through a lot of the book which makes for a solid cozy mystery. If you're already a fan of Austen's work and want something that gives you the same feeling in a cozy mystery genre, this is an excellent option!
