5/5⭐️!! This book deserves all the hype it's been getting. It's beautifully written and the story flows very well to the point where I never wanted to put it down. The characters are multidimensional and jump off the page, conveying such a range of emotions to the point you'll be feeling all the feels. There are so many good quotes in this book that I could add here, but instead of reading the quotes please go read this book!

Also, as someone who was born and raised in Rhode Island, the details about the area were pretty spot on. My favorite quote, which tells me the author did their research, was, “Anywhere farther than thirty minutes in Rhode Island is a destination wedding.” Spoken like a true Rhode Islander.

I loved how complex and human all the characters were but somehow at the same time they were so over the top and fun to read! I think this is the first book I’ve read that really shows what it was like during and immediately after the Covid 19 lockdowns and the psychological effects it had on people.

I also really liked how the ending was satisfying but didn’t tie everything up in a bow!

The hype is real, I LOVED this book. It’s such a moving depiction of depression, and the ways that hope, radical honesty, and connection with others make life worth living. It’s also SO funny.

Man. This book has changed my life. I have never been one to want to begin annotating a book but the second I finished, I opened again with a pen and a highlighter.

This book is real. This book is about life in all of its forms. This book made me want to TRULY live.

I absolutely loved this book. I laughed, I cried, I got frustrated, I was happy/giddy— Alison Espoch did an amazing job of making me feel every emotion the main character was feeling. The Wedding People is a beautiful story of finding hope after hitting rock bottom. Definitely read the content warnings for this one, but it was so worth the read. This book felt like a big hug, and I had to sit in silence after I finished it to really appreciate what I just read. Only took off .25 stars because
I didn’t love how quickly Pheobe’s thoughts turned around from being actively suicidal to being uncertain, yet excited, for her new life post-failed suicide attempt. Most times, healing from something like that and reframing your thoughts takes a lot of time, effort, and is not a linear journey. I think if there were just a couple more slip ups in her  thoughts throughout the book where she has to pull herself back out of that mindset it would’ve been more of a truly hopeful and realistic experience. I also know all this had to take place during the wedding week for the sake of the plot so I was able to let it go while reading
. That being said, I highly recommend the book. It’s only January, but this is definitely going to be one of my favorite books of the year. I’d not only reread it, but I also feel like I’d get something new out of it every time I read it. This is one of those books I am going to continuously think about and come back to.

I enjoyed the book overall. I felt it was well written. It was sad, in an emotional way. I really felt for most of the characters. It’s a book about grief, mental health, learning, growing and really looking deep inside oneself while a wedding is being held at a grand hotel as the setting for most of the story. Satisfying conclusion.
