I appreciate a break from the typical romance trope, but this could have used a few trigger warnings and a better book jacket synopsis. I enjoyed the writing and story, and was glad that this wasn’t a “steal your man” story, as it seemed set up to be. Phoebe grows but her actions with Matt at the end were frustrating; humans are flawed and she realized her mistake, but after the wedding week she had, I expected more from her character with Matt. Lila is a conglomeration of every Bridezilla TV character and also the shallowest bits of every basic white girl social media account. I wish she had grown more than just the speech at the end, because there were many opportunities for her to change. Overall I enjoyed this and would read more from the author, keeping in mind that they summaries aren’t accurate for what is really going to happen in the book.

Perfect for those who are reaching turning points in their life and are wondering what the next step is. I thought it captured the complexity of depression and mental illness very well and the FMC is very relatable. If you’re a CBT nerd you’ll love the way her thinking shifts and how introspective she is.
