I absolutely loved the indigenous and queer representation, especially in terms of gender the whole world setting was amazing to dive into and while I was confused at first, it was great to figure it out along the way and just accept the way it is. It felt like a new way to explore and look at gender, bodies, pronouns and so much more! I also adored the relationships between the characters as well as the characters themselves. The found family vibes were so wholesome as well as the unexpected queer representation (especially the aroace and poly rep). For me as a not indigenous person it felt like a good way to learn something about indigenous stories/storytelling (not quite the words I'm like looking for) and also for example the meaning of ancestors.
The book is quite brutal in terms of the dystopian setting and there is quite a lot of violence, which is fine for me but would recommend to look at the content notes beforehand. If you don't mind that tho, I would 100% recommend this book!

The violence was too graphic and triggering for me to continue reading. The story was intriguing and would be worth reading if the torture and blood does not bother you.

Such an amazing book with unique story that includes topics about gender fluidity and oppression and censorship and just so many layers of how deep these things effect us. I was so engrossed in this book. The found family and community was just amazing. highly recommend reading this

This was absolutely incredible. Heart-wrenching, character-driven, queer, and deep. I read the short story A’tugwewinu in the anthology Love After the End that was expanded into this book; it was wonderful to delve into the world I got a glimpse at from the anthology story. I definitely want to read more from this amazing author.
