It was an okay book. I went into it expecting something completely different from the blurb and while I enjoyed the depictions of war, it's far from what I usually read and it was unexpected. So at least the german blurb could have been better.
I don't think Emilias relationship with Eric was very necessary. You could've just left it out completely and focussed instead more on her relationship with her biological father, for example. She never even wanted to get married, not even when she was with Eric, so why include it at all?
Overall, I did enjoy reading the book, though, and I liked the writing.
