This double volume felt like a test, it got so complicated. Plans progressing, Kira worshippers escalating, a new face, and an old face. The deduction skills of each side trying to out smart the other was hard to keep up with. We’re getting down to the end so I can’t wait to see how this all wraps up. I’m definitely not rooting for Light. He’s so unlikable with his manipulations and hot shit ‘I’m ten steps ahead of everyone’ arrogance….but I’m also not NOT rooting for him to see how far he can take this to world domination.

Probably my least favorite of the series so far.

Yeah, this series really just doubles down on the "all men are superior to women" thing and it's incredibly annoying. Just how smart are Light, Mello and Near if every single woman is written as though they're all sharing a single brain cell?

It's bad enough Misa is obsessed with Light, who treats her like an underpaid intern. Now we have Takada, who was smart enough to get into the university the all knowing, and "amazingly brilliant" Light got into, but she's dumb enough to be his blind messenger now? It's just sad because what a missed opportunity to FINALLY have a female character with a brain.

But alas - this story continues to sort of overcomplicate itself. L's clues help Near and Ide come to the realization that Light is still the prime suspect for being Kira and they continue to close in on obtaining proof of his identity. The next volume is the last volume in the series and I'm curious to see how it ends.

REALLY ENJOYED THIS BABY AND I'M SUPER EXCITED TO GET TO THE NEXT ONE

Three months passed since I read volume 8. I think the break was positive because I got back to it with much more interest after being away from some time.

It was an enjoyable read but I'm still divided by the fact that still feels that the narrative is being stretch too much. I don't know how this will end but this phase after L' s death feels less interesting.

I was genuinely despising this phase of the story with Mello and Near.

Fortunately there is a new character in the story that changed everything. Teru Mikami is exactly what this story needed.

Together with Light's old girl friend from school, they revitalized my excitement for the story.

Can't wait to see what will happen in the last two volumes of Death Note.

I just love Near and Mello okay.

And Teru.

And Light....obviously.
