This book was okay. Just very slow. It felt like there was way too much focus on what Padme and all her handmaidens were wearing and how she was rearranging her staff and their responsibilities and very little time on her actual personal growth and learning to be a senator. They spent a whole theee chapters going back to visit Naboo where nothing furthering the plot actually happened other than her deciding she wanted to keep being a senator which could have been done in a more impactful way without the 3 whole chapters of nothing. It felt so slow but the times she was actually doing work with the senate was the only time it was interesting.

This is the first book of the Padme trilogy but I get the impression they are all standalones, focussing on different phases of her life. Pick up this book if you want a little more insight into the roles of the handmaidens, the system of government of Naboo, and how this works politically on the Galactic level.
