First rate story involving people across walks of life coming together to study Italian in an evening class held by the mysterious but very pleasant Senora. Everyone's lives are tangled in a manner that brings them understanding, experience, joy and love in some form.

Probably closer to a 3.5 or 4. Enjoyed this book. There was some language, but not bad. I loved how the author wove all the lives of the characters together around the Italian Evening Class setting.

This is my first Maeve Binchy read and I am utterly absorbed by her writing.
I loved that I felt like I was reading a number of different novels and yet they did not feel disconnected at all. It was exciting, thrilling even, to untangle and figure out all the connection between the characters. Some I guessed, some I didn't. But even those that I guessed still thrilled me.
I can say I am now a fan and will definitely be reading more of her books.

Once again, Maeve Binchy weaves an absorbing character-rich story that wraps us all in tight. I enjoyed Evening Class very much for all its twists and turns, for the way Binchy shows the power of lives connected by a common goal and a shared dream. Binchy's mismatched characters find growth and even a bit of healing, new adventure, and a touch of romance when they are brought together under the tutelage of a talented teacher, who herself finds new life in the teaching. This is a sweet, thoughtful, hopeful book.
