I liked this book! I think thriller is a bit too strong of a word to describe the "mystery" at the center of the plot but I really enjoyed it.

Stretches credulity at nearly every turn, though the writing shines, particularly in small moments of simile and character description. A largely unconvincing first novel from an author I would, paradoxically, probably read again.
(NB: Does Natalie Haynes has something against actors? Her main character has just left a promising career as a theater director when the novel opens, and yet has quite a lot of angry and specific complaints about how actors are petty, sensitive, untrustworthy, and pathetic little children. Complaints unrelated to the plot, mind, and sprinkled throughout the book. It's odd.)
