The story, while good, was kind of unrealistic. But I guess that's what makes it a good work of fiction. I was wrapped up in the story the entire way through and it only took about 3 days for me finish. If I didn't have a job, I probably would have finished it in one day because I didn't want to put it down! There were a lot of moments where you wanted to know more details about aspects of the characters' pasts but that information came in time. Overall, good book!

Book I pretty quickly devoured on the beach, which is incidentally just the occasion I would recommend it for. The prose is nice, the suspension is there, characters are reasonably rounded considering how short the book is. I had a bit of an issue with Rita being so perfect even in her flaws, especially because she filled the category of wife there, but it's a small problem. Would recommend for leisure read, but it's not earth-shattering.

a good early non-supernatural Dean Koontz offering.

Mildly suspenseful story with a mystery villain. Not a bad light read. Unfortunately, Koontz lets his religious biases shine through clearly in a few parts.

I actually read this book in 7th grade. In retrospect, this is not exactly an appropriate book for a 13-year-old, haha. Man, I read so many inappropriate books when I was younger... Anyway, if I recall correctly, a team of scientists are searching for... something below the ice of... Antarctica? Okay, I suck. Let's just say it was a good suspenseful, kind of scary, novel.

In hindsight, I shouldn't have attempted this review either...

A bit slow for a Dean Koontz book. I’d go as far as saying anticlimactic.
