I would've DNF'ed this book if it weren't for a Challenge. I didn't want to pick another book for the final stretch, so I had to stick to this one. I still wanted to DNF even past the 60% mark, but somewhere after the 80% mark I settled in and didn’t mind finishing the book.

Plus point for keeping it mostly clean (a few kisses here and there).

I have other books by this author and I will try them out. Perhaps it's just the characters and this specific plot that I didn't like. That doesn't go for the 2nd book in this installment though. That one I'll probably skip. I didn't like Drew much and I couldn't care for Jessie either.

Almost DNF when the main character started being catty about other women. Her personality annoyed me in general. The main guy was really cute and I liked him a lot but it really bugged me when he showed up on her date with another guy just to text her the whole time. If he was really such a nice guy, he would’ve left her alone. I really like the other Sarah Adams books in the past but this one was such a flop for me. I only kept reading because I needed something fluffy in my life right now.

This book was meh to annoying to me. A lot of the "funny" parts were either cringy or just annoying. A lot of it was repetitive and whiny. Plus the characters were a bit flat. Also in the audio, it was hard to tell what was said allowed, and what was thought, the narrators weren't very good TBH. Overall not that great. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I read the book instead of listening. Also, if you HATE insta-love don't bother to read this book!

This has not a lot to do with anything, but my husband and I met at work - I had a *massive* crush on him, but never thought he'd feel the same way. Then it got to a point where we both knew we liked one another, but we were both hesitant to make moves for Reasons™️, and I swear it felt like we were constantly surrounded by electric sparks.

That's what this book felt like to me. And I freaking loved it.

This book was light, and fun, and fluffy, and funny, and such a perfect quick beach / summer read. Also - I don't mean light or fluffy in a bad way, there's tons of heart and some difficult topics explored in the book, but it's done in way that still allows you to float on all the butterfly feelings the rest of the book gives you.

Also, the tropes (single mom & brother's best friend) were A+++, chef's kiss, perfection, etc etc. 100% recommend and am very much looking forward to the second in this duology as well as more from Sarah Adams!
