This is book is very funny, but also deeply cynical. I skimmed a lot of it because I didn't want to feel that the world was as bleak as these definitions made it seem (when taken together). Also generally speaking dictionaries do not make for great reading, no matter how witty they are... That said, this book showcases Bierce's caustic humor, so I don't regret having picked it up.
