The way Christie describes the loss of a life through Henrietta in the last chapter through her grief and her meeting with Mrs. Crabtree was so affecting that it brought me to tears. The plot was good but those poignant closing moments were the best portion of the book for me.

Hated all the characters, yet couldn’t put it down. Really felt the shakespearean themes in this one, with some of the characters in fairy-land and others in reality. More adult & more psychological than most poirot novels (this is the 20th poirot i’ve read), with the main character seeing two women besides his wife….I think it’s quite brilliant character writing, though I didn’t care for anyone in it and was quite glad to be done with it.
