I came back to reread this over a decade later, since this sparked my love of manga and all things Japan that I have today. But it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered?! Maybe my tastes have changed but not sure I'll continue to read through the series. It's definitely cute and I love the characters and the idea for the story but I think it was harder to follow compared to other manga series I've read since and that could be why? It just didn't hold my attention like I wanted!

This a reread (too many times) of my favorite manga series. So many good moments and quotes. "When the snow melts, what does it become?" This series was still going when I found the first manga in high school and to say it bluntly this series saved me in high school. It made me want to know what was going to happen next and wait those dragging months for the next manga to come out. This series is my kryptonite. I can't say it enough if you have not read this series please try it and keep an open mind when reading this series. * Chef's kiss*

This is my first manga, and although it took me awhile to get used to the different style, I really enjoyed this story. The character of Tohru is so hopeful, steadfast, and awkward in the best way. At the heart of this book is a story of found family with a fun, fantastical twist.
