This is a short book brought out for the WBD books. It is therefore a short but very dark story involving the same spirals that feature in the Ghosts of Heaven. I really enjoyed the story, and it would be a great introduction to Sedgewick as well as a short book to give to those pupils who 'don't like reading long books Miss'.

While the writing style was interesting, I found the actual story to be a bit tired; the plot was one you will have seen played out a thousand times in other murder-mystery books, full of vague teenage girl tropes and predictable turns.

It's a shame because the author does a great job of painting 1070s America for an audience that will have no knowledge of it, and it was right on the edge of being either a shocking thriller or a well-developed fantasy, but after reading it once and the ending is revealed there isn't much need to read it again.

It has spirals so this is probably connected to The Ghosts of Heaven.

I know this was a short book made for WBD but I feel like it just stops. Don’t get me wrong, I like the suspenseful ending but I want to know what happens to Margot and her friends...
