I cried, I was confused, I was connecting dots like I was looking at constellations. I am left with more questions and a stronger yearning for human connection

This is more like a collection of short stories than a novel, though the stories are chronological in the same universe. I dropped it about a third of the way because the writing felt very same-y throughout, even when we were supposedly following from the perspective of very different characters.

the unification of each story felt unsatisfactory, almost made less significant by the final story. death followed by more death and endless death it was just kind of heartbreaking. writing was rich but plot was undermined by the ending.

This book was an unexpected read and I really enjoyed it! The plot went in a completely different direction than I thought too. I think what I loved about this book is something that some folks don't like- which is having chapters being narrated by a different character each time. There were so many good stories that were loosely linked to one another- and by the time I got to the end of each chapter, I found myself wanting to know more, but being left to hope that the character went on and prospered in the world after their loss. This book is definitely about that- loss and the experience of grief when all of the world is impacted.
I loved how the last chapter played out as well. A thoughtful twist
