3.5⭐️ (I wouldn’t dare give this 1 star LMFAO)
this was my second Taylor Adams book, and im now realizing that he just writes very action-driven, adrenaline rush type books with not a lot of character depth and that’s okay!
this one was SUCH a good premise and it had a few good twists in there and kept me interested the whole time, but the way it was written was just confusing for the first like 60%?? and then the ending felt very unbelievable to me even tho i liked it

I might just be afraid to give it a one star, I don't want the author to haunt me (just kidding)
As someone who watches horror movies on shitty days, this book was it for me. It was so choatic but I loved it. One minute I was scared shitless but the next I was laughing, Emma was in a literal life or death situation but still made off handed comments that made me laugh. I'm glad that she didn't make me mad most of the time because sometimes the thriller fmc always makes me annoyed, not Emma though. I don't like how the ending dragged, I was confused for a hot minute but then was like "oh okay". I do like how the author kept writing in circles, because she had you thinking you knew the plot only for her to turn it around, then make you question again if your theory is right or not. I do feel that Emma was a pretty relatable character. Her being closed off and not letting people in, her being content with being alone with just her dog, her love for books (I giggled when she hid in the closet to catch her stalker but read her kindle in low brightness to pass time).
ALSO I do believe that it was her fault Shelby died, SUE ME.

4.5 stars rounded up!
This book had the same excitement and suspense as No Exit, with twists and turns at every corner! It was a bit unbelievable, but I was worried about space dog for every page...
Thank you William Morrow for an advanced copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.

this book is (hopefully) the closest i’ll ever get to experiencing whiplash and i enjoyed every single moment of it. the twists had twists and just when i thought it was over the author made sure my heart rate spiked again. i haven’t read a thriller this thrilling in a long time and i fear im still in recovery

I almost felt threatened to make a good review based on the plot of this book 😂
Jk.
This was okay, but not the greatest. I kept losing interest and had to go back to reread pages. I pushed myself to finish only to realize that I had called the main twist from a mile away.
I feel like, as a whole, this was mostly forgettable.
However, I am feeling a little slumpy lately, especially with thillers, so it could be more of a me problem than a writing problem.
Grain of salt with this one. 🧂
Oh, and TW for animal abuse.

Whiplash but in a good way. You think you know what’s happening and then it’s turned on its head.
