Asman never disappoints his writing style and humor make him Easily one of my favorite authors. This quick little novella was slam packed with action, demons, humor and gore. Top that off with Kevin Smith and pop culture references what more can you ask for?

Brian Asman’s I’m Not Even Supposed to Be Here Today was a fun, quick read. Part of me wanted the story to be longer, but in hindsight, it’s just the right length. It starts off by letting you know that this ain’t Scot Kring’s first rodeo. He’s a demon fighter for the new millennium. Shit gets bad right away and nothing lets up—ever! I’ll definitely be reading more of Brian’s work in the future.

What else would you expect from a book with this crazy cover and synopsis? And he does it so well, bringing together a crazy story line, funny characters and some gory details. There are even some great references to Kevin Smith and his work as well. Not that he hits us over the head with them; they are just enough to convey a fan's true love for the work. And some of the funny dialogue and interactions between characters would be right at home in a View Askewniverse movie. Thoroughly entertaining.

A fun, quick read that's perfect for any horror fan. Packed with plenty of View Askew references and a plot that could easily have been written for Clerks III.

Don't mistake I'M NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY for some kind of Kevin Smith fan fiction because that's the last thing it is. I'M NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY Is an homage to the director Kevin Smith set against a backdrop to the real focus of the story, Ivan Richman.

Yes, it's true. Cross Ghostbusters with the lowbrow sensibilities of a Kevin Smith film (and, yes, i believe that's selling Kevin Smith films short) and you get Brian Asman's I'M NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TODAY. Its a fast-paced romp sure to please fans of the author as well as fans of pulp horror.

If I had to leave a criticism, it would be that the story lunches from zero to sixty in two pages flat. This is all action at the loss of deeper character development. The layout could use a few added section breaks. This thing reads at the speed of light.

The titular mantra holds true. If you know what that's about you'll want to read this. If, somehow, your head has been in the sand on this, pluck it out, wipe your eyes and become a part of this narrative.
