What a weird book.  I’m truly not sure if I liked it or not, but I did finish it bc I needed to know how it ended.  If you need a challenge, give it a go.

I'm trying so hard to read this. I've even resorted to listening to it. But I can't, I just can't. The tragedy this two characters obviously feel is their due just escapes me. And the misanthropy, especially from a twelve year old, seems self-indulgent and gross. Maybe I'll try next year to see what others see in this book.

I was liking this book A LOT about half way through until almost the end...the fact that it took so long to get going, and that the end seems somewhat abrupt and contrived to me, make it a 3 star read on my list. I enjoyed the characters and the writing style...got to look up a lot of new words too. It's funny because I've had several people just love this book and just hate that book, and I had both of those views while reading it.
