DNF @ 30 %.
This can’t be the follow up to Until I Get You. No way. This is nothing like it. This doesn’t even seem like the same author wrote it. Until I Get You was exciting, captivating, made me want to put everything aside so I could sit down and get lost in that book. This on the other hand, I’m forcing myself to get through the chapters, expecting something to happen. It honestly seems more like something very major happened but it wasn’t shown. Something happened to Finn’s sister, what exactly we don’t know, but it’s important enough to make him obsessed with Josslyn. What?? How does that even happen? In a search to find answers you throw yourself at this girl every chance you get? Not buying it. There’s also nothing like-able about Finn. He’s giving fedora wearing, malady, “why don’t you like me, I’m a good guy” vibes and it’s giving me very strong ick. And every time he’s described as this mysterious, macho-man, womanizing hockey player, I just can’t get that in my mental image.

OH. MY. GOD.
When i say i didn’t see the twist coming….i literally had ZERO clue. An incredible combination of romance, spice & mystery all in one. Claire Contreras’s writing is ACTUALLY SPECTACULAR! The spice, was HOT…so so hot, then all of a sudden I’m trying to solve a murder mystery???????? I was on the edge of my seat with mystery, then clenching my thighs within a chapter or two of each other..

In love with Finn 🤍.  The way he is so captivated by Josslyn from the start had me hooked, even when he didn’t know what his true feelings were at first. I loved seeing their story develop and absolutely couldn’t get enough of them together. And then spice we get in this book is so delicious 🥵. That first club scene was so hot!

I was not expecting that plot twist and loved the mystery parts of this book as well!  I also listened to the audio for this book and it was so good!!

This was a hockey romance? Where was the hockey? Anyway, this one was good but not great for me. Overall I liked the story but I did feel like it dragged on a bit. It was definitely spicy which I liked but I did feel like it lacked a bit of romance between the two MC's. A majority of the book focuses on the sister's death which is fine, but I feel like it overshadowed the relationship between the MC's.

The audiobook narrators, Stephen Dexter; Janine Granda did a great job narrating the book.

You know with a title like “When We Lied” you’re about to go into one heck of a story. I forgot how suspenseful Claire’s books are, at least this series. The storytelling is so beautiful. I love seeing a woman bringing a playboy to his knees and our girl Joslyn did just that with hockey playboy Finn. From the moment he saw her at his sister’s birthday party four years ago, he was smitten, be he’s a one and done kind of guy, and it remained that way. Until 3 years later, when tragedy brings them back together and they both have questions about what happened. They had undeniable chemistry and they had me guessing the whole time what was going to happen and I was shooketh when all the questions finally got answered.

Stephen and Janine were *perfection* in this one. They brought Finn and Joslyn to life and it was just an incredible performance for both of them. Great job to both narrators!
