I won this book as a Goodreads giveaway, thank you. I found the G (Goal), R (Reality), O (Options), W (Wrap-up) frame a helpful way to think about a coaching conversation. This is a good reference for managers with chapters for frequent conversations. The questions provided are excellent examples. This book like the title says is a toolkit and not a book you read cover to cover. I found it very practical as a reference in my library.

It was refreshing and appreciated to see a book on coaching techniques recognize that coaching is NOT always going to be effective and even occasionally will be detrimental. This book did an excellent job of providing examples of both when and how to coach in different circumstances. While it is aimed toward employee relations, I really feel like the basic techniques could be used in other situations as well.
