SCHOOL LIBRARIAN'S REVIEW:
Fun book about some quirky kids who have an incredible adventure. Kids will love the drawings that do a great job adding to the story. It has twins, a few great plot twists, and a bunch of silly stereotypes that the author plays with in interesting ways. (IE: the Kidd kids are: a musclebound idiot, an 'ugly' brainiac, and the twins have mind-reading abilities, etc...) I love that the author has added a ton of 'education' in to the novel. Geography, Art History, Law, and Vocabulary are integral parts of the story-line, which may just add to your readers brain power through his/her subconscious.

Highly recommended for all libraries!

Regardless of my rating, the book was still pretty neat. The main issue I had with it is that it just had waaaay too much stuff going on at one time. A family in which are treasure hunters? Awesome. The parents also being international spies and double agents and the kids are completing a mission in which they did not know was a mission and both parents are missing. Just. Stop. For a minute. I know the author wants the book to seem awesome to kids (we are ignoring my age)but the fact that the kids are: a) treasure hunters b) live on a boat c) home schooled and get to travel all around the world is pretty awesome in itself. The author may have been trying a little too hard. And the ending was a bit depressing. Sorry.

This is really a book for kids. I got bored really fast even though I wanted to like it. Easy to read and the drawings are nice.

Both my 7th and 4th graders enjoyed this so much that we picked up the second book in the series. A little mystery, a little humor - it’s not a bad book. James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein make a good pair.

Too implausible for my personal taste but I can see why my students like it! High adventure, funny characters, lots of twists and turns.
