I tried rely hard to enjoy this series, but it was not going anywhere fast. Maybe my imagination is also lacking at the moment but I wasn't immersed into a fantasy land

The Mortal Instruments series is amazing!! Honestly, this wasn't the best but it didnreally explain what Valentine's motive was. I really enjoyed it and love the shadowhunter world that Clare has created.

I loved this book more than the first one, I'm loving the world building and the new characters in this book.

OK OK I KNOW, I JUST reviewed the City Bones in a very negative light, but I SWEAR it gets better from here on out. I'm SORRY. I honestly just couldn't get into this book. Without the classic love story, and with the weird atmosphere of incest, I wasn't as interested in this book as I was the first. However, at the time that I was reading it, I was aware that Jace and Clary aren't actually related, which was just enough for me to push through this book and get into the next, which I will talk about soon.

The second book in the Mortal Instruments series is consistent to the first book; with the action, drama and humor.

It introduces many new characters out of which my favourites were Maryse and Robert Lightwood and the Queen of Seelies- the latter who kind of annoyed me. Another character that annoyed me was Inquisitor Herondale.

In terms of relationships, Jace and Clary are still trying to figure where they stand with eachother amidst the revelation in the latter part of the first book which was a total plot twist. Isabelle and Clary seem to have found a common ground with eachother. And Alec is still a bit skeptical of her.

The plot continues with Luke becoming a recurring character- to become the 'responsible adult'- and Simon going though an even crazier transformation.

More secrets with relation to Valentine and The Circle is put forward. Clary discovers a new ability- in a rather funny way making it more hilarious because it is centered around Alec- and the Seelie Queen hints at the fact that Clary and Jace may have been experimented on.

There are several ends that I feel like don't meet. New plot lines are drawn and what confused me the most was amidst the final battle Jace is privy to a secret told to him by- none other than- Inquisitor Herondale, who had a strong dislike towards him from the start.

All in all; the drama, the action, the well placed humor and slow burn romance lines (specially between my favourites #malec ) gives great support to #cassandraclare 's well crafted Shadow World.

The incest plot in this book is concerning but the homoerotic Simon x Jace scene makes up for it

I just realised all of TMI happens in the span of 6 months… WHAT. When i read this at 14/15 i always pictured it happened over 2 years, i refuse to accept this truth and will continue with my own timeline
