Well, this was a DNF (made it to pg 100), my first of the year. Without going into too much detail, what I was expecting was a 'Lord of the Flies' esque tale, but I did not get that. Maybe I'll write a review, maybe I won't...

I liked it. I'm very interested in survival books, like Hatchet and The Far Side of the Mountain, and thus book adds to that list. It lacked some aspects the other books did, like actual survival (hunting, building shelters, etc) but i still enjoyed it. The overarching theme was cool and i liked the pre and prologue and how that was intertwined into the narrative.

I received a digital ARC of this title from Edelweiss for an honest review.

A large group of teenagers from the same high school are headed to Costa Rica on a do-gooder mission when they're awakened from sleep to find their plane is crashing. Nineteen teenagers survive the crash and soon have to find out how to survive.

The adventure here was exciting and the comparison to both Lord of the Flies and the tv show Lost is apt. I enjoyed every minute of When We Were Lost.

DNF AT 77% I was just really bored. It was like if Flight 29 Down was made into a book. Just didn't stick with me. Too many characters and none of them extremely likable, I guess.

Ich schwanke zwischen 3-4 Sternen, weil das Buch nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht wirklich gut war. Es ist eine unaufgeregte Geschichte einer Flugzeugkatastrophe, die einen weder sonderlich fesselt, aber trotzdem sehr gut geschrieben ist. Für mich fehlen allerdings die menschlichen Abgründe, die bei so einer Story fast schon ein muss sind
