The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible As Literally As Possible

My brother reccomended (and loaned me) this book. Not only is it entertaining, but it is pretty informative. I found myself laughing outloud. The author is clearly out of his mind to have taken this task on, but he provides a lot of insight into religion, the bible, and the religious. I highly reccomend this book to anyone. It's a much easier read than you assume it will be.
Honestly, I have been saying for years that no matter how much you love the Bible, the chances of you following every mandate of the Bible is slim and this book proves it in a hilarious way. Jesus was Jewish in fact he was the perfect Jew, and going with that he had a super busy, but short time on this earth. This book is informative and heartfelt, and definately good for a few laughs. It might sound cold, but if there is a way to keep his wife out of books that would be super. I haven't read "know it all", but I heard the same thing. His wife comes off "shrew-ish". I don't know if that's how he A.J writes her or if she is indeed a shrew. This is her husbands job and I'm sure it brings in damn good money, she should be able to deal with weirdness every few years for one year.

A book that's both funny and thought. Provoking. No religious agenda
I never would have picked this up on my own, but my book club selected it. I found it entertaining, interesting, and thought-provoking.
Disappointingly lacking in humor for a book categorized as humor. Interesting idea and execution but read like a textbook in most sections. Not an author I'll read again.
I really enjoyed this book and actually got a lot out of it. Jacobs manages to not just tell you what he's doing and learning but takes you along and lets you experience it, too.
An insightful and often humorous account of one man's efforts to follow the rules of the bible as literally as possible. This book was easy enough to put down and come back to without feeling lost.
A very funny book. As a Christian I found it particularly meaningful. Reminds me of why we need to remember that the bible is fully of myths and stories that show us deeper truths, even if sometimes they may not be factual!
Pretty funny, and I admire his commitment to the project. Probably never something I could do on my own.
