an intriguing thriller about what happens when an unreliable main character suddenly becomes involved in a murder. A dark part of the underworld is slowly emerging as major US authorities seek to get to the bottom of it. The threat is growing from the wrong side (aka shit is getting real), but the flight attendant tries to maintain her daily life at all costs. Or, well, for a hot minute. Because what is a problematic alcoholic main character without her making deliberate bad decisions like bending the truth under oath, ringing up the dead guys parents, or showing up to his work place under a false name that eerily resembles her own...!?
With the ocassional other perspective chapter to give some more context about international espionage. I especially enjoyed reading the mystery surrounding the murder itself and how the main character reacts to it (with bad decisions obv.).
somewhat predictable ending regarding the fate of the main character. I didn't expect the small plot twist in it though.

I round up on good reads but 2.5. This book started off with a bang. An unexpected surprise.... And then... Womp womp. I was so disappointed. It hit into Russian spy stuff, KGB, and some history thrown in. I'm not at all sure how it got an adaptation. And I feel like they repeated the same things over and over. It was full of matter of facts, what ifs and hypotheticals without much happening. Just disappointing but having said that, I did really want to like it. Some parts were great but they were too short lived and too few and far between.

I didn't read much of it. This is the second book by this author I've tried to read - I made it through the first one but hated it. Didn't bother with this one. I don't know why people love this guy so much. I read about 20 pages of the nothing that takes place in the main character's head while she's waking up in bed, hungover. Of course if you have read the premise of the book, you know she wakes up with a dead guy. It took an excessive number of pages for her to notice the dead guy. I didn't bother with the rest of this and won't read anything else by this author.
I liked it most of the book, but the ending felt rushed and very confusing.
