Leggere questo libro, la "versione letteraria" della storia, a distanza di un mese dall'ultima visione al cinema del film, mentre in sottofondo Spotify mi passa la colonna sonora del film scritta dai Rad WIMPS è qualcosa di emozionante.
Si legge il libro, la musica riporta in sala e accompagna nei nostri occhi le scene del film.
Il libro è fedelissimo al film, verrebbe da dire, ma sarebbe sbagliato.
Lo stesso autore, in fondo al libro, spiega come all'inizio non lo volesse scrivere, per poi cambiare idea e scriverlo a produzione iniziata, terminandolo prima che venisse ultimato il film.
Il film ha ovviamente influito sul libro, che però a sua volta ha influito sul film.
E la musica ha influito su entrambi, spronando addirittura Shinkai a scrivere il libro, come ci rivela il produttore dopo l'intervento dell'autore.
In pratica abbiamo a che fare, semplicemente, con le versioni letterarie, animate e musicale della stessa storia.
Una storia d'amore e di desiderio di non arrendersi, di testardaggine, declinata in una chiava vagamente fantascientifica\soprannaturale.
Una storia toccante, non dico altro perché spero bene che tutti abbiano già visto il film d'animazione o ne abbiano la visione in programma, o stiano aspettando come me l'uscita del blu ray. In tre mesi ho letto il libro, sentito più volte la ost e visto due volte il film, penso che questo la dica lunga su quanto mi piaccia la storia...
Per quanto riguarda il libro, riesce bene nel compito difficile di rendere gli scambi, sopratutto quando all'inizio o verso la fine si fanno frenetici, cambiando punto di vista di paragrafo in paragrafo. Si rimane leggermente perplessi all'inizio, ma una volta abituatisi a questa cosa il libro scorre via benissimo.
Malgrado ciò, non so se leggerlo senza avere negli occhi le scene possa garantire la stessa emozione e la stessa soddisfazione finale, o se invece potrebbe lasciare qualche perplessità.
Raccomando la lettura dopo la visione, per andare sul sicuro. E accompagnatela con la giusta musica!

shinkai himself said this story works better as a film rather than an novel. and i agree. even so the story is like something that came out of a dream. nothing more or less than a breathtaking view.

This book is the explanation I desperately needed from the film!!! After I saw the film, I really felt like I'm missing something. I see a lot of people on the internet saying they cried after they watched the film and I was so confused because I didn't cry.
After I read this, I understand now. It's the message. I missed the other important message of this film. I didn't get it before but I understand now. Even if the mind forgets, the heart remembers. And a direct quote from the essay at the end of this book, "People forget the important things. That said, by resisting, by struggling against that, they gain life."
I'm so glad I read this after I saw the film because the role of the score is really IMPORTANT. I was so happy I could hear the scores playing in my head when I read a certain scene. It brings out more emotion.
With that said, a solid read indeed considering the film was a hit.
