This retelling of Sleepy Hollow has all the pacing and atmospheric spookiness of the original but manages to still deliver an HEA about two characters that admittedly I never much cared for in the original (yes, I was on the horseman’s side). Ichabod’s need for safety and his hunger both real and metaphorical made him sympathetic, while Brom had hidden depths and a need to protect that led to him fitting with Ichabod perfectly. The writing style is reminiscent of the Irving’s classic, and swept me quickly into the story. A great read for a rainy October night.

Two halves
“The horseman was—was real, and he was hunting.” Ah, Ichabod and Brom with your irresistible vibe of enemies to lovers and forced proximity. Then, you two squished my heart with your protective vibes. Gets me every time. Add in a bloodthirsty, otherworldly villain and you can’t go wrong!

I am a Headless Horseman Junkie! Yes, maybe because I love horses! This version was very entertaining and unique, so I am not going to go into great detail. Brom desires Ichabod and how he first tries to relay this is funny! Ichabod is just as you imagine Ichabod to be! The story has little bit of scary but a whole lot of fun and romance too! It is cleverly written with the perfect atmosphere and is a quick and easy read.

As far as books in this series go, this is one of the better ones. I can’t say this is a riveting read but I liked the retelling and the couple. Honestly, there’s not a lot for me to say about this book

Cute but a bit too slow for my taste. Also I would have liked a bit more of on the mystery/horror side. The solution to putting a stop to the horseman was too easy but took too long for the characters to come to. I did like Brom and Ichabod together though. They were so adorable.

A fun retelling of the Sleepy Hollow & the Headless Horseman. It's an entertaining read, with two engaging leads and an interesting take on the story

From the 3 books I've read this far from this series, this is the one I've enjoyed the best!
I enjoyed the atmosphere that [a:W.M. Fawkes|18156587|W.M. Fawkes|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1551895307p2/18156587.jpg] built, it truly gave the vibes needed for the horror element of the story and Brom and Ichabod's story was just sweet with all the right push and pull.
It was lovely seeing Willem being so supportive of Brom and his happiness and there wasn't a better family for Ichabod to become a part of!
What I really couldn't piece together was why the horseman appeared then and if he had appeared before, and because that whole thing was left unanswered and pretty much avoided, I'm going with 4 stars.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

The monsters & mayhem series have been very hit and miss but this is one of the books I've liked the best. A sort book but still have a good sense of mystery and romance and some spookyness ofc.
