The Finely Woven Thread!!! The reason behind my raiting for this is pretty simple. This is my first graphic novel ever, so I don't have any comparison. All I know is that I enjoyed it A LOT and that it makes me wanna read more graphic novels. I really liked the story, I REALLY love Natasha/Black Widow. And most of all, I really liked the graphics.

I don't have anything to complain about, so 5 stars, for sure. Now I need more!!!I'm also open for suggestions. So if you know any graphic novel that is a 'must read', please let me know :)

This was great! Looooove Phil Noto's art, and love this version of Natasha, trying to do right to make up for past wrongs. This has a similar set up to the Fraction/Aja Hawkeye in that it's all stuff she's doing off the Avengers clock (there's even a brief Hawkeye cameo). I love this setup and would love to see it applied to even more heroes. (Well, women anyway. Well, mainly just Mockingbird.)

There were a bunch of characters I didn't know who were introduced like I should know them, but that's why God invented the Marvel wiki I guess.

That was pretty darn good. Quick stories (I would have liked them longer, though), a number of interesting characters, cool art.

Black Widow vol 1: The Finely Woven Thread is exactly what plenty of people want out of a Black Widow volume. She's cold, ruthless, but also has a softer side that she only shows to persistent people. It is what I expect when I come into a solo Black Widow title. Espionage, terrible men getting there due, and someone/ something from Natasha's past coming back in the present day.

If you fall in and let yourself enjoy it then it's very good. Nathan Edmondson writes the hell out of this just like his Punisher title. Strong plot through the title, good character throughout even if it can become one note. But enough depth is given that I greatly enjoyed reading it.

The real star here is the art by Phil Noto. It's gorgeous and allows itself space to tell the story. There are long sections where the monologue/dialogue are minimal and they let the art do the work because it needs no introduction. I want to read more books drawn/colored/inked by this artist.

Overall it's another volume one to read from Marvel Now. For some this isn't going to be mind blowing but I think in certain aspects like art and character it does the job so well that even if your mind isn't blown it does such a solid job you can't help but enjoy it. A very good creative team and one that makes me look forward to more volumes.

4 stars.

Táto Natasha je po Ultronovi ako balzam na dušu. A tak je to pekné! Tak veľmi!

This was... interesting... I overall enjoyed it but was not blown away. There was a bit of trying to touch on every single backstory and romance that Natasha had ever had but it wasn't don't in an unwieldy way. If the character was this good in the movies I might actually like the movies... I think my favorite part was the art which was a cool blend of classic comic and creative Impressionism. Mostly though, I found it strange that it was basically an entire male team of artists and writers (not that that is bad) but it means that there was little from a woman's perspective on a female character...

Dear Marvel,

Make a movie already.

Love,
Everyone

The thing about a well-written comic series is it makes you keep wanting more. I really want to read more Black Widow right now. It is great stuff.

More about 3.5 stars.

First off, Phil Noto makes everything beautiful. I'm into everything about how this book looks.

But the story just isn't grabbing me. I'm enjoying it but I'm not invested. I think it's relying too heavily on trying to do a mission each issue, and it just doesn't have enough going on. I think this is starting to change with later issues, though, so I'm holding on.

This book is 95% awesomeness and 5% melodramatic monologuing about the nature of home and atonement. In other words, par for the course for a tortured backstory hero like the Black Widow. Plus really gorgeous art, a female super(anti)hero who actually dresses practically, and a couple hilarious nods to Fraction's Hawkeye. Win-win-win.
